Not all students are experienced with learning through educational videos. Think about textbooks: it takes years of experience to learn to navigate academic textbooks correctly, and new features and boxes are specific to some brands of textbooks. The same holds true with video. It can be highly beneficial to review how to use a video – including pausing, rewinding, and using time codes as “page numbers.” CSD Learns courses also include speed controls to slow down or speed up video playback.

4 Tips for Using CSD Learns' Educational Videos for Deaf Education

CSD Learns suggests that teachers incorporate our educational videos into their courses in four separate ways:

  • Classroom mode
  • Group mode
  • One-on-one mode
  • Homework mode.

These can be used depending on the teacher’s needs and objectives, the students’ need for differentiation, and more.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version="3.27.4"]Classroom Mode Open CSD Learns (learns.csd.org) and sign in. Show videos to the classroom on a Smartboard for discussion or as a center of attention[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version="3.27.4"] Self-Paced or Group Mode Set up several laptops or iPads in the classroom with students. Students work with the video as a primary text, using speed controls and rewind/fast forward to find useful information. [/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version="3.27.4"] Homework Mode Students can visit CSD Learns on their own from home when they’ve missed class or when they need to review content. CSD Learns has an ‘instructor mode’ which allows you to see student progress. [/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version="3.27.4"] One-on-One Mode  Does your student benefit from one-on-one support? Do you want to do a more intimate evaluation? Our videos can be used in a one on one setting with you and the student watching the video together. This format allows teachers to help students learn to use videos.
